Eyeliner helps give depth to your lashes and makes them appear thicker. In other words, maximum sex-appeal in minimum time. What’s not to like?
Choose an eyeliner that complements your eye shadow and mascara.
Test the width of the line by drawing a little on the back of your hand. If the line is too wide, sharpen the pencil. If it’s too thin, rub it against a tissue to make it more blunt.
If your eyeliner pencil tip is dry it may pull at delicate eye tissue—run it back and forth on your hand several times to warm it, and it will glide on smoothly.
Rest your elbow on a flat surface. This will keep your application steady and controlled.
Draw your eyeliner along your upper lash line, as close to your lashes as possible, beginning at the inner corner of your eye. Don’t stretch your skin too much, it can make the eyeliner messy and uneven when you release it.
Just like a normal pencil, the more pressure you apply, the thicker the line will be.
Draw a thin line in same direction on your lower lash line, but this time start in the middle of the lash line.
For a classic look, you don’t need to line the inner part of the lower lash line, but if you are going for the rocker chick look, then, by all means, lather it on.
Repeat on your other eye, drawing a line on your upper and then lower lid to match your first eye. When you’ve defined your eyes well, they might just define you.
In Ancient Egypt, both noblemen and noblewomen lined their eyes with kohl, a preparation that often contained high levels of lead.
