You Will Need

  • Nail polish remover
  • Cotton balls
  • Soap
  • Water
  • Sponge
  • Spray bottle
  • Plastic knife
  • Hydrogen peroxide

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Blot the area

    Blot the nail polish with a paper towel.

  2. Step 2

    Put nail polish remover on stain

    Put nail polish remover on a cotton ball or paper towel and blot the stain again.

  3. If the nail polish remover contains acetone, test a small area of your carpet first.

  4. Step 3

    Wash with soap and water

    Wash the area with soap and water once the stain is gone.

  5. Step 4

    Get old stains out

    Get dried stains out of the carpet by first spraying the area with water.

  6. Never use bleach on carpets.

  7. Step 5

    Use a plastic knife

    Use a plastic knife to scrap the polish out of the carpet.

  8. Step 6

    Put hydrogen peroxide on stain

    Put hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball and dab it on the stain.

  9. Step 7

    Let it sit

    Let it sit for 30 minutes. Keep applying until the stain is gone.

  10. In 1992, two inventors in New York City patented a nail polish that dries in less than a minute and is tough enough to be worn for two or three days.
