Steps

  1. Step 1

    Assign chores

    Assign chores to your children. Small children can pick up their toys and help set the dinner table and older children can mow the lawn, dust, and vacuum.

  2. Step 2

    Encourage your children

    Encourage your children to complete their chores.

  3. Step 3

    Reward them

    Reward your children for their good work. Give them an appropriate allowance.

  4. For younger children, you may choose to reward them with treats or a trip to the ice cream shop.

  5. Step 4

    Save

    Teach your child to save their money. They can put half of their allowance in the bank and save the other half for something they want.

  6. Step 5

    Be a role model

    Teach your children about work ethics by being a good role model. Do not complain about work, speak positively, and share your successes with your children

  7. Step 6

    Help find interests

    Help your child discover their interests. Get them involved in a variety of activities.

  8. Step 7

    Join a team sport

    Enroll your child in a team sport to learn the value of teamwork.
