Learning how to lucid dream—that is, to be aware during your dreams that you are, indeed, dreaming—will allow you to live out fantasies, stop nightmares, and even road test some solutions to real life problems.
Keep a journal and a pen next to your bed so you can immediately record everything that happens in your dreams. You’ll begin to see patterns, and that will help you realize when you’re actually in the middle of a dream.
Look intently at mirrors, book titles, and your watch face several times a day. In dreams, these images are always blurred. Looking at them while awake will increase their appearances in your dreams, helping you recognize when you are dreaming.
Pinching yourself when you’re awake is another good way to train your brain to recognize when you’re dreaming, because when you pinch yourself in a dream you feel no pain.
Tell yourself as you drift off to sleep that you’re going to have a lucid dream. Research shows that simply instructing your brain to realize you’re dreaming—especially when you’re in the suggestible pre-sleep phase—helps boost your odds of doing so.
Set your alarm half an hour earlier than normal. When it rings, stay awake 30 to 60 minutes, then go back to sleep. Because you likely interrupted dream-intense REM sleep, you’re now 20% to 50% more likely to have a lucid dream.
So George Clooney is about to kiss you and you feel like you’re starting to wake up? Pretend to spin around in circles. This keeps the dream going 96% of the time.
Once you’re attuned to the fact that you’re dreaming, start altering the action. Fly over mountains. Tell off your mother-in-law. Have a “dream” date. You can also test problem-solving scenarios, practice sensitive confrontations, and speak to loved ones who have passed.
Lewis Carroll was inspired to write Alice in Wonderland after having a lucid dream.

The first time i found myself in a lucid i tried to fly. It was harder than i thought. I had to concentrate on lifting off the ground and then propelling myself.
The second, and last, time was much easier. I flew through the skies of Rome & Barcelona ... other things i won't mention. The possibilities are truly endless!

I too had a lucid dream - my sister was in it and I tried to convince her she was in the dream with me. She didn't believe me so I told her I'd prove it by making anything in the world appear. She requested a chocolate sunday with a cherry on top and poof I made it appear lol that's her always thinking of food. I've tried since then but haven't been able to dream lucidly again... :( think of what we could all do...maybe thats my ticket to quitting smoking! lol

I have pain in all of my dreams, Even in my lucid dreams. In my lucid dreams i cant escape, or leave the dream no matter what.. usually if the dream gets too weird, i will close my eyes, tense my body, and scream and shake violently... 70% of the time this will bring me back to reality, sometimes it doesnt work and i just stand there going "let me out".... :(

I lucid-dream sometimes, but I would like to more, especially since all of my dreams are so strange and fun. I once had a lucid dream that seemed to go on for hours. It was an epic mystery, going to all sorts of fantastical places. When I solved the mystery at the end, everything suddenly made sense and I wanted to see the whole dream again just for fun. So I 're-wound' the entire dream and relived everything! It was like dream-DVR, very awesome!

I have lucid dreams from time to time. In some of the dreams, i'm running and when i jump i and keep jumping and keep getting higher in each jump. Then i start to fly. Flying around the Town i live in. Sometimes i dream and not realize its a dream until something weird happens.

It's Actually pretty hard to control your dreams. Even with this video I never found myself pinching myself in my dream even though I did it before I went to bed. I kept telling myself to have a lucid dream but it's hard. Actually though I remember in one dream that I was able to fly and I didn't know it was a dream. But it was pretty cool.

It has been awhile since I've had a lucid dream, but in the past I've had several of them. Even-though I do dream almost nightly, I haven't been lucid in quite sometime. I probably haven't been asking myself enough, if at all, if I am dreaming during the day. Once, I even realized I was losing the "dream state", so I imagined myself spinning, Before I knew it : I was back in the dream. From now on I will have to let go of all the stuff on my mind at bedtime. Lucid dreaming is a blast.
