How to Make Flavored Dipping Oils for Bread

Impress your friends at your next get-together by making three different herb and olive oil dips for bread from scratch.

You will need

  • 2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 2 tsp. dried rosemary
  • 2 tsp. dried parsley
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 c. olive oil
  • 2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 2 tsp. fresh ground pepper
  • 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • Italian bread
  • 2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • Equipment:
  • 4 small
  • shallow bowls

Step 1 Make basic bread dipping oil Make basic bread dipping oil by combining 1 teaspoon each of dried oregano, rosemary, parsley, and garlic salt in one of the small, shallow bowls, and stirring until they’re thoroughly combined.

Step 2 Add olive oil Mix in the remaining olive oil and stir until everything is well blended, grab a hunk of bread, and dig in.

Step 3 Make parmesan pepper dipping oil Make parmesan pepper dipping oil by combining 1 teaspoon each of basil, thyme, and black pepper with the parmesan cheese in a second bowl, stirring until they’re well blended.

Step 4 Put oil in a separate dish Put 1/4 cup olive oil into another bowl. Dip a piece of thick, crusty Italian bread into the olive oil, and then into the cheese and pepper mixture.

Step 5 Make spicy, herbed dipping oil Make spicy, herbed dipping oil by combining the minced garlic with the crushed red pepper and the remaining teaspoons of black pepper, oregano, rosemary, basil, parsley, and garlic salt in the last bowl.

Step 6 Add olive oil Drizzle in the olive oil and stir until the herbs are evenly mixed wih the oil.
