  • Strong opinion
  • Clear voice
  • Personal website or blog

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Give the details

List the maker, model number, the specifications, what you paid for the appliance, and where you bought it in the first paragraph of your review.

  2. Step 2

    Discuss promises

Discuss if the appliance met or exceeded the promises made either by the manufacturer or salesperson.

  3. Step 3

    Compare or stand alone

Compare the appliance with a previous brand or version, or have the review stand alone if this is your first time using it.

  4. Give yourself a little time to adjust to using the appliance and to explore all the options.

  5. Step 4

    Be brief

Be brief -- around 200 to 500 words -- to keep your readers interested and engaged, and don't ramble. Make your point and move on quickly.

  6. Step 5

    End with recommendation

End with your recommendation and don't be afraid to write a negative review if you are dissatisfied. Just explain why.

  7. Step 6

    Share your thoughts

Share your thoughts on a website, start a blog, or contact a consumer magazine for writing opportunities so you can get paid.

  8. CFCs, or chlorofluorocarbons, once used in refrigerators, were banned in 1995 after it was discovered the gas eroded the ozone layer.
