How to Use a Circular Saw

You Will Need
- Circular saw
- Guide board
- Measuring tool
- 2 clamps
- Something that needs cutting
- Straight edge (optional)
Steps

Always wear safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection when operating a circular saw.

Step 1
Select the proper blade
Select the proper blade for the material or wood board you will be cutting.

Draw a line
Draw a straight line on the board.

Use a straight edge.

Step 3
Adjust the blade depth
Release the blade depth lever and adjust the blade so it just clears the board. Tighten the lever.

Make sure the saw is unplugged.

Step 4
Align the line with the saw blade
Align the saw blade with the line and mark the other side of the plate.

Step 5
Measure the plate distance
Measure the distance from your original line to the line on the other side of the plate. Transfer this measurement to the other side of the board.

Step 6
Clamp the guide board
Clamp the guide board along the line on both ends.

Step 7
Plug in the saw and align the blade
Plug in the saw, rest the plate against the guide board, and check to see if the blade lines up with the original line.

Step 8
Start cutting
Start cutting. Make sure to keep both hands on the handles of the saw at all times to prevent injury.
