Go with the flow by constructing your own do-it-yourself raft out of wood.
Collect straight, dry tree logs. The logs should be cut to the length of the foundation, and you should collect enough to span the desired width when they are placed side by side.
If you’re not sure if the logs will float, place them into a pond or other standing body of water.
Lash the logs together using twine or plant vines.
Cut 2 additional logs with lengths that match the raft’s width. These logs will be placed at right angles to the platform logs.
Tie the cross-pieces to the platform with more twine or vines.
Position the cross-pieces 18 inches from the ends of the raft.
Place brush on the raft’s deck to keep your feet dry, and then launch your boat for new adventures.
Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was first published in the United States in 1885.
