  • Light
  • Ventilation
  • Run
  • Entrance hole
  • Door
  • Feeder system
  • Water source

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Check the size

    Select a coop large enough for your chickens.

  2. Step 2

    Check ventilation

    Choose a coop that will keep the chickens dry, and that provides adequate amounts of light and ventilation.

  3. Step 3

    Check for a run

    Choose a coop with an outside run for the birds. The run should be connected to the coop by an entrance hole.

  4. If there are potential predators nearby, select a fenced or fully enclosed coop.

  5. Step 4

    Check the door

    Make sure the door of the coop opens inwards and is large enough to allow you to get inside to clean the coop.

  6. Step 5

    Check for a feeder

    Select a coop with a built-in feeder system and water container -- unless you plan to design your own. Now you're ready to play Farmville for real.
