Getting more veggies into your diet is virtuous. It can also be delicious, with these recipes.

You Will Need

  • Broccoli
  • Water
  • Peeler
  • Salt
  • Grater
  • Butter
  • Flour
  • Milk
  • Onion powder
  • Vegetable soup
  • Jar
  • Garlic
  • White vinegar
  • Olive oil

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Eat with florets

Don't cut the stems off. Instead, wash your broccoli, cut off a bit of the end of the stalk, and prepare it your favorite way. This is the easiest way to utilize the entire vegetable.

  2. There are many ways to prepare broccoli, like steaming, boiling, sauteing, or simply eating it raw.

  3. Step 2

    Peel and eat

Peel the stems with a peeler and cut them into small sticks. Enjoy them alone as a snack or sprinkle them with a little bit of salt.

  4. Step 3

    Add to salads

Grate or chop your unused stems and add them to your salads. They make a wonderful crunchy addition.

  5. Step 4

    Make soup

Make broccoli soup with both the florets and the stalk or just the stalk. Mix broccoli, butter, flour, milk, water, onion powder, and salt for a quick and easy soup. Or add the stalks to a vegetable soup recipe.

  6. Step 5

    Pickle stalks

Pickle the stalks by placing them in a jar with water and salt. Close the jar tightly and refrigerate it overnight. Drain the water and add garlic, white vinegar, and olive oil. Refrigerate it overnight and enjoy. Whatever you decide to do with your stalks, remember that eating them is a healthy alternative to throwing them away.

  7. Broccoli has been grown in the United States for more than 200 years.
