You Will Need

  • An 18 X 24-in. piece of 22-gauge steel
  • Permanent marker
  • Drill and drill bits
  • 4 flat-head sheet metal screws
  • Screwdriver
  • 15 aluminum canisters
  • 15 heavy-duty 3/4-in. circular magnets
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • 15 spices

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Mark corner holes

Use a permanent marker to mark the location for four screw holes in the corners of the steel sheet, approximately 1/4 inch from the edges.

  2. Step 2

    Drill holes

Lay the sheet of steel on a worktable and drill four holes at the marked locations.

  3. Choose a surface that can be drilled while drilling the sheet of steel.

  4. Step 3

    Screw into the wall

Screw the steel sheet into the location you have chosen -- preferably a wall or solid core door -- using four screws.

  5. Step 4

    Hot glue magnets

Wash the aluminum canisters, and glue a magnet to the back of each, using liberal amounts of hot glue. Allow the glue to set for 30 minutes.

  6. Step 5

    Fill with spices

Fill each aluminum canister with a different spice.

  7. Step 6

    Label spices

Write the name of each spice on its respective case to keep them organized.

  8. Step 7

    Arrange on steel

Arrange the canisters on the sheet of steel in any order you choose. Enjoy the beautiful colors, the easy access, and the awesome organization of your spices.

  9. The most expensive spice in the world is saffron. It takes anywhere from 70,000 to 225,000 purple saffron crocuses to make 1 pound of saffron.
