Whether enjoyed by the beach or pool, bar or barbeque, the frozen fruit daiquiri is as essential to summer as sunscreen and swimwear. Choose your fruit and plug in that blender.
Fill the glass with ice and water and set it aside to chill.
Add one cup of ice to the blender.
Crush the ice before you begin for a smoother drink.
Add 1/2 a cup of fresh fruit.
Add 2 ounces of light rum, add 1 ounce of lime juice, pour in 1 teaspoon of sugar, and add 1 ounce of fruit liqueur of your choice.
Experiment with using honey or powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar for a drink that’s a little more tart than sweet.
Blend on medium speed for about 15 seconds or until smooth.
Empty the cocktail glass.
Pour the drink into the now chilled glass, add a piece of fruit for garnish, add the straw, and serve.
The frozen daiquiri originated in Havana, Cuba’s La Florida bar, affectionately called La Floridita, a favorite haunt of Ernest Hemingway.
