How to Make a Frozen Fruit Daiquiri

Whether enjoyed by the beach or pool, bar or barbeque, the frozen fruit daiquiri is as essential to summer as sunscreen and swimwear. Choose your fruit and plug in that blender.

You Will Need

  • Ice
  • 1/2 c. fruit, like strawberries, banana, or pineapple
  • 2 oz. light rum
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • 1 oz. fruit liqueur (of a complementary flavor to your fresh fruit)
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • A measuring jigger
  • A blender
  • A large cocktail glass
  • A straw

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Fill glass w/ ice & water

    Fill the glass with ice and water and set it aside to chill.

  2. Step 2

    Add ice to blender

    Add one cup of ice to the blender.

  3. Crush the ice before you begin for a smoother drink.

  4. Step 3

    Add fresh fruit

    Add 1/2 a cup of fresh fruit.

  5. Step 4

    Add rum, lime juice, sugar, & liqueur

    Add 2 ounces of light rum, add 1 ounce of lime juice, pour in 1 teaspoon of sugar, and add 1 ounce of fruit liqueur of your choice.

  6. Experiment with using honey or powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar for a drink that's a little more tart than sweet.

  7. Step 5

    Blend

    Blend on medium speed for about 15 seconds or until smooth.

  8. Step 6

    Empty glass

    Empty the cocktail glass.

  9. Step 7

    Pour, garnish, & serve

    Pour the drink into the now chilled glass, add a piece of fruit for garnish, add the straw, and serve.

  10. The frozen daiquiri originated in Havana, Cuba's La Florida bar, affectionately called La Floridita, a favorite haunt of Ernest Hemingway.
