How to Make Store-Bought Gravy Taste Homemade

Make your store-bought gravy taste homemade by adding a few ingredients you probably already have in your cabinet.

You will need

  • Scrapings from the pan
  • Drippings
  • Onions or shallots
  • Butter
  • Peppers
  • Mushrooms
  • Rosemary
  • White wine
  • Spirits
  • Cream
  • half-and-half
  • or low fat milk
  • Roasted garlic
  • Meat (optional)

Step 1 Add dripping Liven up store-bought gravy by adding the scrapings from the bottom of the roasting pan and a little bit of the drippings.

Step 2 Add onions or shallots Spice up the flavor by sauteing caramelized onions or shallots in butter. Add 1/4 cup of onion for each cup of gravy.
