Ewww, that's funky! Clean up your XBox controller to avoid a gamer faux pas.
You will need
- Microfiber cloths
- Electronics cleaner
- Cotton swabs
- Alcohol swabs
Step 1 Turn off controller Turn off and disconnect the controller from the USB cord.
Step 2 Wipe it off Wipe off the controller with a clean dry microfiber to remove any dust, smudges, or dirt.
Step 3 Use cleaner Spray electronics cleaner onto another clean cloth and wipe off the controller thoroughly to remove any dirt or grime.
Spray the cloth until moistened, but not wet. Excess moisture can damage your controller and make it unusable.
Step 4 Clean the buttons Spray the cleaner onto a cotton swab until moistened and clean each button and trigger to remove grit and oils.
Step 5 Wipe with alcohol Wipe down the controller with an alcohol swab to remove any remaining oils.
Step 6 Test the buttons Test the buttons. You may need to open the controller to clean out the interior if buttons are sticking.
Taking your controller apart may void the warranty. Check your warranty information before attempting any internal cleaning.
Step 7 Turn on and test Turn on your controller, check it for functionality, and play your favorite game.
