Steps
-
Step 1
Opt for creamy shampoos
Wash your hair with creamy shampoos and conditioners that contain lanolin, protein, silicone, or shea butter twice a week. This will hydrate your hair and eradicate a dull, dry look.
-
Step 2
Use heat sparingly
Avoid using tools like blow-dryers and curling irons, which can dry winter hair and encourage static.
-
Step 3
Rinse with vinegar or egg and use oil
Rinse your hair with white vinegar or with an egg beaten into lukewarm water once a week to add body and moisture. Use oil products to hydrate, but only before shampooing to avoid drying out your scalp.
-
Step 4
Cut static
Rub dryer sheets on your hair to remove static electricity, or use a natural-bristle hairbrush that's been sprayed with hairspray and then smooth your tangles from the roots to the ends.
-
Step 5
Wear loose hats
Wear silk-lined, loose hats to prevent unflattering, oddly-shaped hair. Take proper care of your hair and it'll treat you right all winter long.
