You Will Need
- 2 or more colors of embroidery floss
- Elastic
- Hair
- Pony bead
- Piece of paper
- Hair clips (optional)
Steps
-
Step 1
Prepare floss strands
Choose at least 2 1-yard strands of embroidery floss in different colors, and cut each to twice the length of the wearer's hair.
-
Step 2
Braid hair section
Take a small section of hair about the width of a paper clip from the top or side of the head and braid it all the way down, securing it with an elastic at the bottom.
-
Step 3
Tie starter knot
Hold 2 strands of floss together under the base of the braid and tie a basic overhand knot around it, as close to the scalp as is comfortable for the wearer.
-
Step 4
Separate strands
Separate 2 strands of one color from the braid, holding the remaining strands and the braid together with your other hand.
-
Step 5
Wrap first color
Wrap the color you separated tightly around the braid and the remaining strands downward from the base of the knot.
-
Step 6
Switch colors
Switch colors every 1 centimeter to 1 inch of wrapping, by dropping the working strands and picking up the strands of a different color. Continue wrapping tightly and alternating colors until you reach the elastic at the end of the braid.
-
Step 7
Tie off
Remove the elastic at the bottom of the braid and tie off the wrap by making a secure double overhand knot with each set of floss strands. Style the rest of your hair to show off your fashionable new wrap.
