Men's Health Week happens every year in the week before and including Father's Day. You can be a man or woman to take part in the week and help spread the word about men's health issues.
You Will Need
- Exercise
- People to tell
- Blue clothing
- Doctor
- Venue for a health fair
- Education about men's health issues
Steps
-
Step 1
Exercise
Get out and exercise. Plan a game of basketball or a hike with your coworkers or family members.
-
Step 2
Wear blue
Organize a "Wear Blue Day" with your company to promote awareness of Men's Health Week.
-
Step 3
Take care of yourself
Participate by taking good care of your health. Things like sleeping 7 to 9 hours a night, not smoking, and getting a health check-up are a great way to start.
-
Step 4
Plan a health fair
Plan a health fair at your work place, church, or in your community. Invite local health groups, such as hospitals, to educate people on men's health issues. Free screenings for cholesterol and blood pressure can be offered.
-
Step 5
Write a letter
Write a letter or editorial about the importance of educating people about men's health to a local newspaper or your local government.
-
Step 6
Spread the word
Talk to the men and boys in your life about the most common health issues that men face, such as prostate cancer and heart disease. Encourage them to learn about the early warning signs. Mark the date on your calendar, find some people to share it with, and spread the word about men's health.
