You Will Need

  • A full-sized sarong
  • A friend
  • And 2 safety pins
  • A bathing suit with shoulder straps

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Hold sarong

Hold two ends of the sarong behind you so that it's stretched evenly against your back, hanging from your armpits down.

  2. Step 2

    Cross corner

Bring one corner forward and cross it in front of you to your opposite shoulder.

  3. Step 3

    Pin corner

Pull that corner over your shoulder and have a friend pin it to the back of your sarong.

  4. If you're wearing a bathing suit with shoulder straps, knot the corner to a strap instead of pinning it to the sarong, and slide the knot over your shoulder toward your back.

  5. Step 4

    Wrap around body

Wrap the rest of the sarong around your body under your bustline.

  6. Step 5

    Tuck free end

Tuck the free end into a section that is tight against your body.

  7. Step 6

    Pin in place

Pin it in place and strike a pose—you're done!

  8. Comedy duo Abbott and Costello both donned the signature South Seas garb for their 1942 caper, Pardon My Sarong.
