The extension for pentatonic pattern 2 is: 1, 3, 1, 3, 1, 3, 3. Once you have that down, combine it with the rest of the pattern: 1, 3, 2, 4, 1, 4.

So if you've been following along we've extended our pattern number 1 for pentatonic, and now let's try to do the same thing with pattern number 2. So, we could do it here on the A string, on the fifth string. But you know it gets a little funny here with the open, so why don't we go ahead and move that up to the 12th fret. Right, and remember that's where the guitar starts again. And so we know here we have 1, 4, 1, 4, 1, 3, 1, 3. That's our original pattern number 2. And what we're gonna do is we're gonna try and extend that. Again trying to make it more diagonal, right? So, I'm gonna back it up two places just like before but now the pattern has changed a little bit, right? So we're gonna go 1, 3, 1, 3, and then 1, 3, 3. So did you catch that? 1, 3, 1, 3, 1, 3, 3. And then the rest is what you might know already, right? 1, 3, 2, 4, 1, 4. Right? So let's do that again. I'm just gonna extend pattern number 2. I'm gonna back up two places, and I'm gonna start my pattern. 1, 3, 1, 3, 1, 3, 3, and then 1, 3, 2, 4, 1, 4. And there you go, extension of pentatonic pattern number 2.
