The only thing worse than feeling tired is looking tired. Lucky for you, it should only take a few minutes each morning to take your look from sleep-deprived raccoon to bright-eyed bunny.

You Will Need

  • A mirror
  • An eye cream or moisturizer
  • A creamy, non-drying concealer
  • A concealer brush
  • A translucent powder
  • And a large powder brush

How To Hide the Circles Under Your Eyes: Position mirror

Step 1: Position mirror

Position your mirror for the best possible light—natural light is preferred—and lean forward for the best view of your circles.

How To Hide the Circles Under Your Eyes: Prep eyes

Step 2: Prep eyes

Prep the skin under your eyes by applying the eye cream or moisturizer. This does not mean a shimmery cream or reflective moisturizer—that would draw attention to what you’re trying to hide.

Allow the moisturizer to absorb before applying under-eye concealer or, for lighter circles, mix a little cream with the concealer and apply them together.

Step 3: Apply foundation

If you use foundation, apply it now.

Step 4: Apply concealer

With a brush or your finger, apply concealer one to two shades lighter than your skin tone to the darkest area. Don’t go too light—that could create a reverse-raccoon look!

If your circles are purple, use a yellowish concealer, and vice versa. If they’re green, use a red or pink concealer, and vice versa.

How To Hide the Circles Under Your Eyes: Blend

Step 5: Blend

Blend by gently tapping, not sweeping, the concealer. Stop short of your lower lash line, and blend past the dark area.

A brush allows for finer control, but the warmth of your fingertip can help dissolve the concealer into your skin. If you use your finger, try your ring or pinkie finger to avoid pressing too hard on this delicate skin.

How To Hide the Circles Under Your Eyes: Apply powder

Step 6: Apply powder

Apply a light dusting of translucent powder over the concealer to lock in your look.

Eye circles are often inherited, but you may be able to eliminate or minimize them by consulting a doctor, since they also can be caused by allergies, poor diet, and sinus infections.
