"Hi, my name is Renee French and I'm here at Practical Massage Therapy in Nashville, Tennessee, and I'm going to be talking about massage therapy. These are my suggestions for how to become a massage therapist. Probably first, you wanna check with your state's regulations and find out what is required, whether you need to be licensed or certified in your state. You can do this one of two ways. You can contact massage therapy schools or go to their website in your area and find out what the requirements are, or you can call your health-related Boards in your state and they should be able to tell you. The next step is to find a massage school that really fits your personality and fulfills the requirements in your area. One of the things that you can do is to visit all of the massage program websites and find out what their program offers. So my final suggestion is to make an appointment with the intern clinic at the massage programs that you're interested in and receive a massage. See if it's the type of work that you like, talk to the student and find out their experience of the program and whether it's been a good program for them, and see if it's something that you might be interested in."
