Hi, my name is Lisa Moskovitz and I'm a registered dietitian and certified in the state of New York, with a private practice on the upper east side. I specialize in weight management, exercise and sports nutrition. And I'll be talking to you about diets. The Kind Diet, created by Alicia Silverstone as an approach to lose weight, while following that vegetarian, environmental and animal-friendly approach. So what you're doing is basically eating like a vegetarian, reducing a lot of animal fats, promoting more plant-based foods, fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes. In my opinion, by cutting back on animal foods you're decreasing some essential nutrients, particularly protein, zinc and iron. So, if you already area vegetarian looking to lose weight, this program could work for you. However, if you're not a vegetarian, and you have no problem eating chicken, poultry and fish, then I recommend including that in your diet because I don't necessarily think that being a vegetarian is the way to go for weight loss.
