My name is Jacqueline Bush and I'm an editorial in celebrity hairstyles. My clientele has included Faith Hill, Mark Ruffalo, Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jane Krakowski. I want to be able to show you that hair isn't as intimidating or as hard as you think it is and I want you be able to have fun with it and do what your vision is with your hair. So I'm going to show you a trick that every woman who has any kinda length to her hair should know what to do with a bobby pin. I'm going to show you how to use a bobby pin. Believe it or not a lot of women don't know how to use. The first trick to using a bobby pin is making sure its one that has a lot of grip and for this I would go to a beauty supply store that specializes in it rather than going to a drug store because a lot of the bobby pins at the drug stores they give to much room between the wedges. They just don't tend to hold the hair really well. So, that is factor number one. Factor number two would be to make sure your hair isn't super soft and if you're in a hurry you can just do a little bit of teasing throw in a little hairspray and that'll be enough to give the pin a some kind of grip. I already gave Monica a messy updo but I'm pinning back the last few sections and so I wanna show you how you can do this cause you can achieve so much if you know how to use a bobby pin. You take your bobby pin's flat side serrated side flat side outwards serrated side towards the hair. You're gonna take it put the hair in there then twist it and now slide it into the scalp. Now if its still a little slippery. This is a very special trick your gonna take another bobby pin and your gonna put it beneath and your gonna make an x see how that's x'ed in there its not going anywhere shes so stuck with that in her head. That's not moving we're not gonna keep those guys there. I just want to show you one other thing here. For example on this messy updo. the pin basically i take a little hair from the updo and im gonna attach it to the hair on the scalp. the serrated side is again in towards the hair the flat side is outwards and then I'm gonna flip that and lodge it into the hair. and that's what makes it stay and that's how you use a bobby pin.
