My name is Jacqueline Bush and I'm an editorial in celebrity hairstyles. My clientele has included Faith Hill, Mark Ruffalo, Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jane Krakowski. I want to be able to show you that hair isn't as intimidating or as hard as you think it is and I want you be able to have fun with it and do what your vision is with your hair. So this is how to do a side ponytail. Monica has a little front section of bangs. I actually want to leave them out for this. I'm going to take the rest of her hair, leaving out that front section, I'm just going to pull it low and you can smooth it or you can leave it a little rougher. I'm just going to use my fingers as a texture because she has a lot of rough texture in her hair already. Then what I'm going to do is, I'm going to use something called a bungee. Now, a bungee cord is exactly what it sounds like‚ it's elastic with hooks at each end. And the reason I like to use bungee cords is because when you put it in the hair it gives you more control over where you want it to be. If you use a regular rubber band, once you start twisting it in you might lose your grip a little bit, it falls a little bit. For this, it's all about precision. So I'm going to take my bungee and with one of the hooks I'm going to hook it in, which literally means that one side of the hook is just hooking the hair, and I'm going to wrap it around‚Äîand then I'm going to wrap it around again and with this other hook, I'm going to go on the inside and hook it again. So, you can see both ends of the hook are above the elastic. If you hook it below it will slide out. Now what I'm going to do- I'm going to take a little section from underneath. I'm going to take my teasing comb,a rat tail comb with serrated edges, and I'm going to tease this underneath section. I'm going to spray it. That's going to give it a little hold. Then I'm going to smooth it and I'm going to wrap it around the ponytail. I get asked this all the time‚how do you do this one little trick? It's so easy guys. So, then once I've wrapped it‚ the key is this hair can't be too soft. That's why I teased it and put hairspray in it. Then, I'm going to take a pin‚ a little U pin‚I'm sliding it directly up in. And just to make sure that's it's in there nice and secure, I want another pin and do that one more time, x-ing it up in there And that's how you've got your side ponytail.
