My name is Jacqueline Bush and I am an editorial and celebrity hair stylist. My clientele has included Faith Hill, Mark Ruffalo, Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jane Krakowski. I Want to be able to show you that hair isn't as intimidating or as hard as you think it is and I want you to be able to have fun with it and do what your vision is with your hair. So now Monica and I are gonna show you how to make a fish tail braid. The first thing I'm gonna do, as you noticed I already gave her a little bit of a side part, and I'm just gonna pull all this hair over, so everything is completely off her left shoulder. It's all here on the right. So we have our two sections of hair, both on one side. The first section, we'll call this section number one, this section's gonna be number two. So we're gonna start with section one, and I'm gonna take a small piece of hair from the outer and under side of section one, I'm gonna cross it over to section two. So now we still have two sections of hair. Then I'm gonna take a small section of hair from section two underneath, slightly to the outer corner, I'm gonna cross that over to our first section. Now your braid might be a little loose, so you just want to pull it a little tighter, and now we're gonna do the same thing. We're gonna take a small section from section one, crossing it over to section two, joining that, and we're gonna take another small piece from section two, the outer corner, if you do it from the inside you're not gonna see it. Cross it back over, and we're just gonna keep going down the hair like that. As i mentioned before, part of the reason for showing you something undone is because most people don't have a lot of time to spend on their hair. But another thing is, I just think styles a little bit undone, a little bit, not too messy, it's just- it's so wearable, and it's so... sheik. And as you can see I'm just not really too concerned that the sections are all even, it doesn't really matter I mean- the way I see it is it's- it's kind of part of the beauty to have it just a little off center, a little imperfect. As we get down to the bottom, I'm gonna secure this with a clear elastic. You guys can see a little bit of her hair is left out. This is the key to have it look effortlessly undone in the good way, and not actually sloppy. See how the top of her hair is a little undone, you want this texture to match the braid. So what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna start with my fingers, I'm just pulling it out a little, just loosening it up, mushing the braid, just pulling on it a little, and just to connect it a little more I'm just gonna take this top section of her hair, I twisted it back, and I'm gonna take the pin... bobby pin, and just twist it back and just hold it there. Now I'm gonna take a comb and just tease it out a little more. And that's how you get a fish tail braid.
