Hi, I'm Dr. Elissa Lunder. I've been practicing dermatology at Dermatology Partners in Wellesley, Massachusetts for the past 10 years. I believe that skin care doesn't have to be complicated. With a few simple steps you can have beautiful skin. You can visit Dermatology Partners on the web at dermatologypartnersinc.com. So today we're gonna talk about skin care. So let me tell you a little secret. If you wanna have perfect skin stay out of the sun. The sun is not your friend. People with perfect skin are the people that you see at the beach who are under the umbrella or wearing a big hat. The sun is what causes all the wrinkles and the brown spots. People may think that sun damage doesn't happen until you're an old lady, but that's not true. We start seeing evidence of sun damage in your early 20s so when you go outside you wanna make sure you're protecting your skin with a good broad spectrum sunblock and making sure that you are seeking shade and wearing a big hat. So if you look at your skin, if you look at the sun exposed area of your skin compared to the non sun exposed areas, you'll see that the front part of most people's arms are covered in brown spots, but in inside of your arm will be nice and clear and smooth. So not only do people with perfect skin stay out of the sun they also take care of your skin. You can't ignore your skin and expect it to look get. They wash their face twice a day, they don't go to bed with make-up on. After they wash their face they moisturize twice a day. They exfoliate on a regular basis to get rid of dead skin and they also use anti aging treatments. They'll use antioxidants especially those with Vitamin C's and other topical antioxidants and they will also try to repair their skin by using over the counter retinoids or prescription strength Retin-a or Renova. So if you follow these few simple steps you can have perfect skin too.
