Fight breast cancer with the help of oncologist Marisa Weiss, MD, founder of Breastcancer.org and a breast cancer survivor herself.
Hi, I'm Doctor Marisa Weiss, president and founder of breastcancer.org. I'm also a practicing oncologist, and mom, and also a breast cancer survivor. So I'm happy to share information with you today that could help protect your life against breast cancer. If you've been confronted with a breast cancer diagnosis, you know you got to do everything you can to treat it effectively and hopefully get rid of it and never see the darn thing again. And put it in your rear view mirror. And I certainly know this not just as the president and founder of breastcancer.org and as a breast oncologist who practiced for over 20 years, but also as a breast cancer survivor myself. We want to help women when their finish their treatment embrace the rest of their life. To help them manage many of the questions and issues that kind of can be overwhelming, confusing and create a lot of anxiety. If you are trying to support a survivor, someone who's been through breast cancer being there, just you know being a listening ear, being a source of support, helping getting answers to questions, going to a doctors visit with that person so you could be a second set of ears. Staying tuned to new discoveries in case they come about and you want to share that with the person you care about. There are so many ways that you could be a great friend, a family member to someone who's trying to get breast cancer in her rear view mirror or his rear view mirror and move on with life. I mean we only get one shot at the living and you know there's no take one or take two, so each one of us has to on an every day basis sort of embrace the life that we have and hope for something that's better. So there's a lot you can do as a survivor and as a support person to someone who is dealing with this issue.
