My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect wedding. When choosing a wedding florist, definitely make sure they jive with your style and of course budget; see if they own beautiful vases and tablecloths or if they have easy access to it. Make sure that your florist has the entire event in mind; can they do beautiful ceremony cocktails and party for you? It's great if your florist also has access to lighting, it's easier than hiring an outside company. The florist that you hire does not have to create the entire ceremony beforehand but they should do at least one table demo and one for cocktails, everything else you should have a clear cut vision of what you're looking for. Obviously you can spend as much or as little as you want on décor, but about a third of your budget will go towards it, so make sure you spend it wisely. Definitely ask your florist for pictures from previous events and also make sure that they can produce yours, do they have enough people to set up your flowers in time? Some venues will only give you an hour to, and you definitely want to make sure you're not running late. Don't drive your florist crazy, if you chose cherry blossoms and that day they're not available; give them a leeway to choose the most beautiful flowers in the market. Those are some things to think about when choosing a florist, but most importantly make sure you have great chemistry with them, they're creating the look of your wedding.
