My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect wedding. At all weddings today, brides and grooms want their guests to know who they are and what they're about. They want to interject something personal. That can come in many different forms. If there's a family member or a friend who sings well or plays an instrument well, that will be extremely personal. If the groom or the bride can sing, that will be unbelievable. If the groom or the bride can speak very well, they should by all means do it. They certainly can if they won't be nervous and if they're very, very good at it. Try to look at your guest list, your friends and your family and see if there's anybody that has something that they could add to the wedding that would be somewhat unusual. And if there's any particular thing that represents you, even if it's a corn dog, or if it's a drink - some kind of signature drink, or anything that represents the bride and the groom so there's a more personal event than just a generic wedding that unfortunately too many people go to.
