My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect wedding. There are no rules anymore, who pays for the wedding, sometimes it's the bride and groom, sometimes it's the bride's parents, sometimes it's the groom's parents, but usually everybody contributes a little something, hopefully they'll contribute to something that they love like music or food or flowers. If your parents are willing to pay for music send them the bill directly, do not let them pay you and then pay the vendor, it never goes well. Just be honest, if you need help paying for your wedding, go to your parents and ask for it, they can always say no but usually they'll give what they can. Do not take out a loan to pay for a wedding, always do what you can afford, if you really can't afford anything, get married in a church with your immediate family, go home for a barbecue and enjoy your marriage. Most vendors will ask for all their money upfront, so be sure you can pay your bills otherwise they just won't show up at your wedding. Just remember, whoever does pay the bills, make sure to say thank you, so those are just some guidelines on how to figure out who pays for what.
