My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect wedding. There are many, many bands today who do weddings as there are many, many DJ's. It's a very hard decision for brides and grooms as to which they should have. Firstly, a band is more costly than a DJ so that's economics that plays into it. Secondly, a lot of people like the look of a band versus the look of the DJ and that plays into it. Thirdly, DJ's have extreme flexibility to change the music and play all sorts of genres all night long going back and forth whereas bands do play a lot of different things and generally not as much as a DJ. There are also weddings where the bands play for four hours and then the DJ plays. Cause rather than paying a band overtime, one can have a DJ take over. One can also go back and forth between a DJ and a band playing some electronic music the bands can't play. But generally speaking, get a feeling - bride and groom - if you've been to other weddings or if you've seen other weddings, get a feeling if you're more comfortable with a DJ or if you're comfortable with a band.
