"Hi. My name is Robert Royston. I'm a five-time world champion of country dance, working with artists like Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley. I really hope that you'd learn how to line dance and experience what it's like to move to America's music, and that's country music. So, country music is a lifestyle genre. People who listen to country music tend to buy certain cars, shop at certain stores, wear certain clothing. And country dancing is an arm of that lifestyle genre. But you don't have to like country music to like country line dancing. Line dancing is a great way to get into shape. It's great to learn for when you go to, you know, your cousin's wedding. It's just a fun thing to do. It's also a great social community. Going into the country line dance world, you find communities of people that like to get together and have parties and have a good time and dance. And it's a little easier to learn to line dance sometimes when it's turn to couples dance or maybe dancing with a partner might be slightly intimidating at first. So to line dancing, get to learn to dance for yourself first before you have to worry about following or leading somebody else. So I really encourage you to try country line dancing whether you're part of a country lifestyle or not because it's a lot of fun and you'll find a lot of different of ways that it can fit in to your lifestyle. "

  • Robert Royston

    Robert Royston began his professional career on the competitive couples dance circuit in 1989, quickly ascending through the ranks and securing the “US Open Swing Dance Championship” and “World Country Dance Championship”, titles he held for four consecutive years (1995 to 1998). In 2007 he became the youngest person to be inducted to the “UCWDC Hall of Fame”. His exciting, high energy and original work next led to his choreographing and performing in music videos. He is an internationally recognized judge and instructor, Robert teaches 22 different styles of couples dancing, and runs his own Production Company, RoRo Productions.
