Learn how to escape from a north-south position from Alliance MMA black belt Babs Olusanmokun in this Howcast Brazilian Jiu Jitsu video.

Escape from north side position. I’m not going to let my opponent put all his weight on me. I mean I have my hands under him like so. And right here, my elbows are sort of framing him. So as he tries to keep his weight down I have my hands and now I’m going to swing my hips from side to side, give me some movement. Here, here, here, and I do a big one to spin around. I face him, I can go to spider guard, which a variation of open guard or I can pull him into my closed guard.

The swing of the hips from one side to the other. One side to the other. It can be one, two, three, and a big spin around. I don’t have to do ten swings of the leg. And, that is your escape from the north side position.
