Learn to create a short hairstyle using a scarf from professional stylist Joy La Rosa in this Howcast short hair tutorial, part 1 of a 2-part series.
I’m going to show you a fun way to style a bob. One thing that we do a lot with bobs is we forget about accessories, so I’m going to use a great accessory for today. What we’re going to do is we’re going to incorporate a scarf into kind of an up do. We’re not only going to use an accessory, but we’re going to make it look like we’ve pulled all the hair up into an up do.
We’re going to take this top section here and we’re just going to clip it out of our way. I’m just going to take a small bit of the other side and do it the same way. Now I’m going to take the remainder of the hair here in the back, just kind of this back section of hair. If you have a longer bob, you’re actually going to incorporate the scarf into your hair, but since her hair is so short we’re going to create the tiniest ponytail ever.
So now I’m going to take a scarf, and I’ve already folded it up. I’ve folded it up so that it has soft ends. You could also buy now, they have a lot of really cute ones that already look like this that aren’t a real scarf but they’re sewn to look like one. I’m going to take and I’m going to drape the scarf over the front of her head. So I’m just going to take my clear elastic band, thread my scarf through it, give it about two wraps. We’re going to attach our scarf to that little tiny ponytail using another rubber band, being sure that the scarf is still loose and where we want it. From this point then you can drop these top sections of hair. You’ll see it just kind of covers up certain parts of the scarf.
Now what I want to do is you can choose to just leave the scarf out like this. You can tie it in a big bow. You can do whatever you want. We’ll tie ours in a bow in the back.
