Learn about Jason Ok, one of Howcast's taekwondo experts, in this video.
Hi, my name is Jason Ok. I’m the head instructor of Black Belt Tae Kwon Do located in Flushing, Queens, New York. I’ve been doing taekwondo over ten years. Actually, I’ve been teaching now for over six years.
I started taekwondo when I was a young teenager, and ever since I started I loved it. I love Tae Kwon Do because it’s fun. We learn punches, we learn kicks, we learn acrobatic kicks. Also, we learn self-defense, and also we learn great exercises.
Also, one thing I love about martial art is the competition. I’ve been competing over ten years, and the competition actually really challenged me in my life. Also, it really made me focus and train hard so I can keep winning my Tae Kwon Do sparring events.
I actually developed self-confidence through training. The more I train, the more confident I felt, not to other people but towards myself. That’s a very important thing. Also, the martial art taught me how to deal with, not just the physical exercises, but also the mental part, too. So I’ve been educated on life, on respect, on manners. So I think if you meet a great instructor, you’ll definitely or she’ll definitely will educate you on that.
