How to Dance in a Group

Learn how to dance in a group from professional dance instructors Victor Sho and LaShonna Halloway in this Howcast dance video.

LaShonna: Hi, everybody. I’m LaShonna.

Victor: And I’m Victor Sho.

LaShonna: And today we’re going to teach you how to dance in a group.

Victor: Cool. So when you dance in a group you’re definitely want to keep the energy up. You definitely want to show your personality. You definitely want to do simple moves that everybody can see and catch on. So eye contact is important, too. Smiling is contagious.

Here we go!

LaShonna: In a group you just want to do something repetitive so people follow you. You’re the leader of the group and they follow that move that you’re doing.

In this case Victor started this move and I followed him.

Victor: And now LaShonna can do something that she wants to change up.

LaShonna: First we’re going to go wave, wave-

Both: Wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave.

LaShonna: Your turn.

Victor: Hop it up.

Both: Hop it up. Hop it up. Hop it up. Hop it up.

LaShonna: Hop it up.

Victor: Your turn.

LaShonna: Hop it up. Take it back. No. No. No.

Both: No. No. No. No. No.

Both: Take it back. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Victor: Bring it back.

Both: No. No. No. No. No.

Victor: Bring it up.

Both: Take it back. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

LaShonna: And that’s how you dance in a group.

Victor: And that is how you do it. Dancing in a group.
