Learn how to do a kimura from scarf hold MMA submission from Team Radical MMA head coach Rene Dreifuss in this Howcast video.
All right, guys. Now we’re going to do the kimura, the same kimura we’ve done, from the scarf hold. I’m going to have Chad in the scarf hold, and you’ll always have your hand here, not this position. All right? This is too loose, and we can’t get the submission. Okay. We’re here, all right, now, there’s a lot of ways I want to set this up. I’m going to show you one. All right, ready? Okay, let’s do that again.
I’m here, okay guys? Now, I’m here in this nice, solid position, I use my elbow to push his arm between my legs and trap it. Now, I put my hand here — a lot of times I’ll incentivize it by choking him, pushing his head, maybe punching him — and I will step over. Okay? I can lock up my triangle here, but in this case, I’m going to hunt for the kimura. And I can do the traditional this way, or I can come up into the bucking bronco this way. And oftentimes, I’ll just get here, and he’ll just tap right here.
Okay, let’s do it one more time. I’m in the scarf. Okay. Elbow — do not let him get his elbow to the floor. Your knee goes very tight, elbow, push. If you can karate chop it a little bit, like this, even better. Push his head, catch his head, and now I start hunting his arm. I can finish him here. He can come up, I can finish him here. And we have the kimura. Again. And that’s the kimura from scarf.
