anything you can say to confuse the kids at that point: there are a lot of different opinions on santa's existence, blah blah blah... or the real killer, "why would so many adults lie to you about something like that?"

you really need to stress the magically part of the season. The spirit of Christmas. As they get older you switch to the philosophical approach. Nobody wins/loses a philosophy argument.
