You Will Need

  • One 10mm non-diffused LED
  • Two CR2032 3V lithium coin batteries
  • Duct tape
  • A balloon
  • Helium (optional)

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Attach batteries to an LED

Place two CR2032 3V lithium coin batteries on top of each other, then place them between the prongs of a ten-millimeter non-diffused LED. Secure with duct tape.

  2. Step 2

    Put inside balloon

Push the LED-battery pack inside an uninflated balloon.

  3. Step 3

    Fill with helium

Blow up the balloon or fill it with helium. Disposable helium tanks can be purchased at party supply stores.

  4. To prevent a balloon-blowing headache, take a deep breath, then blow all the air into the balloon at once, keeping your cheeks flat and using your stomach muscles.

  5. Step 4

    Make a statement

For an impressive display, get some friends involved so you can fill a few dozen balloons.

  6. Step 5

    Decorate with balloons

Use LED floaties to decorate your next party. Shape them into an arch or canopy; line your walkway with them; place a few on each table as a centerpiece; or create a classic ceiling balloon drop.

  7. A 13-year-old American boy blew up 213 balloons within an hour—with his nostrils!—in an attempt to set a world record.
