Attend the rush party for the organization of your choice. This typically takes place early in or before the school year.
It’s wise to check out several organizations in case you don’t get into your first choice.
Step 2.
Be yourself
Like your mom always said, be yourself! There’s no point in joining a fraternity or sorority that doesn’t accept the real you.
Step 3.
Ask alum for recommendation
If you’re worried about your chances, ask an alum of the fraternity or sorority to send a letter of recommendation on your behalf.
Don’t know any alums? Spread the word among friends and family; someone is bound to know someone.
Step 4.
Make it through pledging
Once you’ve been offered a bid, make it through “new member education,” also known as pledging.
Step 5.
Maintain grace & humor
Maintain your grace and good humor through pledging—which might involve silly or embarrassing antics, but not ultimately dangerous stunts. This will boost your chances of being accepted.
Step 6.
Enjoy induction ceremony
Enjoy the induction ceremony. You’ve made it!
Eighty-five percent of Fortune 500 executives are “Greek,” meaning they belonged to a fraternity or sorority.
