How to Glaze a Window
Follow these steps to keep the warm air in during the winter and cool air in during the summer.

- Step 1: Remove the window Remove the window. By taking the window out, you'll save time and have better results.
- Step 2: Clamp the window in place Clamp the window in place on a flat surface.
- Step 3: Remove old putty Remove old glaze with the heat gun and putty knife.
- TIP: Use sheet metal to protect the glass if you do not have a heat shield attachment on your gun.
- Step 4: Prime bare wood Use the paintbrush to apply primer to any bare wood around the window.
- Step 5: Apply new putty Apply the new putty to the entire outer edge of the glass with the putty knife.
- Step 6: Smooth the compound Dip the putty knife in mineral spirits and smooth the compound. Repeat this step several times until the compound is completely flat.
- Step 7: Remove the excess compound Remove excess compound from the seam with the putty knife. Wait until it's completely dry and reinstall your newly glazed, more energy efficient window.
