How to Make Pound Cake

This moist cake will have you going back for seconds.


  • Step 1: Preheat oven Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then grease and flour the pan and set it aside.
  • Step 2: Mix together Use your mixer to cream the butter and shortening together in one of the mixing bowls.
  • Step 3: Add ingredients Slowly add the sugar. Then add the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each one.
  • Step 4: Stir ingredients Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder in the other bowl. Slowly stir this mixture into the butter mixture, alternating with adding the milk.
  • TIP: Begin and end with the flour mixture, adding milk in between.
  • Step 5: Add vanilla Add the vanilla extract and mix well. Then pour the batter into the pan and bake for 60 to 90 minutes.
  • Step 6: Insert toothpick Insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. When it comes out clean, the cake is done.
  • Step 7: Cool pan Allow the pan to cool for 10 minutes. Then slice the cake and top it with whipped cream and your favorite fruit.
