A favorite take-out food, this dish is delicious and fun to prepare and customize with your preferred ingredients. Fried rice makes a great entree or side dish.
Instructions
- Step 1: Beat the eggs Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in your wok. Add the minced garlic and ginger and stir until they're softened, and then pour in the beaten eggs, scrambling gently.
- Step 2: Fold in the rice Coat your wok with additional oil and fold in the cold rice, stirring continuously until the rice grains are separated. Then add the soy sauce, a little bit at a time, until the rice is golden brown.
- Step 3: Add the vegetables Add the peas, carrots, and green onion, and mix thoroughly.
- TIP: Add your favorite cooked meat or seafood for extra protein and flavor. Use drained, firm tofu, cut into cubes for vegetarian dishes.
- Step 4: Continue cooking Continue cooking over medium-high heat until the vegetables are tender. Season with salt and pepper.
- Step 5: Serve the rice Spoon the rice into bowls. Garnish it with additional green onion and soy sauce, and serve it with chopsticks.
