How to Grill Strip Steak

These spice-rubbed strip steaks will be great for your next barbecue.

You will need

  • 1 1/2 tsp. whole black peppercorns
  • coarsely crushed
  • 1 1/2 tsp. whole dill seeds
  • coarsely crushed
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • coarsely crushed
  • 1 tsp. whole coriander seeds
  • coarsely crushed
  • 1 1/2 tsp. coarse salt
  • 4 bone-in strip steaks
  • Vegetable oil
  • Airtight container (optional)

Step 1 Mix Mix the peppercorns, dill seeds, red pepper flakes, coriander seeds, and salt in a small bowl.

Step 2 Rub on steaks Rub the spice mixture on both sides of the steaks.

Step 3 Prepare grill Preheat a gas grill to medium-high heat or cover a charcoal grill until it’s about 500 degrees. Oil the grate to create a nonstick surface.

Step 4 Grill Grill the steaks until they’re cooked to medium-rare, about eight minutes on each side.

Step 5 Transfer to platter Transfer to a platter, cover with foil, and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
