How to Make a Grilled Cheese Sandwich with an Iron
If you're living in a dorm or staying in a hotel, or just want to try something fun, you can experiment with staple sandwich.
Instructions
- Step 1: Clean the iron Clean the surface of the iron with a wet paper towel.
- TIP: If there is starch residue on the iron, add a drop of soap to the paper towel, and rinse the iron clean.
- Step 2: Set up board and iron Set up the ironing board and turn the iron on to medium heat.
- Step 3: Lay towel and paper out Lay the towel on the ironing board and place a piece of parchment paper on top of the towel.
- Step 4: Lay out sandwich Lay one piece of bread down on the paper and layer it with cheese, topping it with another piece of bread.
- TIP: Make a gourmet grilled cheese using Havarti, Gruyere, or Cheddar cheese.
- Step 5: Prepare top and iron Lay another piece of parchment paper atop the sandwich and press the hot iron firmly on top of the sandwich, rocking the iron back and forth a little to toast every inch.
- Step 6: Flip over and iron Flip the sandwich over when the top is toasted, replace the paper, and iron the other side.
- Step 7: Turn off iron and remove paper Turn off the iron and remove the paper from the top of your sandwich.
- Step 8: Butter both sides and eat Butter both sides of your sandwich and taste a bit of that ooey gooey goodness you remember from your childhood.
