How to Make a Model of the Human Body
Help students learn about the human body by creating a life-size paper model of their body with this fun exercise.
Instructions
- Step 1: Cut kraft paper Have the students pair off or assign them partners. Provide each pair with two sheets of kraft paper, one for each student, each piece about 6 inches longer than the corresponding student.
- Step 2: Lie on the paper and trace Tell the students to take turns tracing their partner's body onto their kraft paper with a marker. Remind them to stay very still.
- TIP: Make sure they are lying flat on their back with their hands and legs spread apart.
- Step 3: Cut out the silhouettes Help them cut out their body silhouettes. Let them have fun coloring their silhouettes to look like themselves.
- Step 4: Write their names Write their names on the backs of their body pictures and tape the pictures to a wall. When you teach them a new part of the body, have the students create a paper model of that part and place it in the correct position on their paper silhouettes, until they have a complete model of the human body.
- FACT: The human brain contains approximately 1 billion nerve cells.
