How to Play Blues Scale Pattern #2 on Guitar

Learn how to play blues scale pattern #2 in this Howcast video.

OK, so now we're up to pentatonic pattern number 2 with the blue scale over it. It's a little tricky. The pattern is 1, 4, 1, 4, just like before. Right? And here we go, here's where it's different: 1, 2, 3. All right? So you can already hear that right? And now we have 1, 3, just like before. And then we have – here's where it gets a little tricky – we're going to go 2, 4, and then I've got to go outside of the scale a little bit to grab this extra note, 4. Right, so there are a number of ways you can do that. You can use the same finger twice. You can use completely different fingers. However you want. It's totally up to you. And then the last 2 are the same – 1, 4. So let's go over that again. We have 1, 4, 1, 4. Just like before. Then we have 1, 2, 3. That's different. 1, 3. And then here we have several options, but what we had before is 2, 4. Then we need this extra note here, so we can get that with our pinky. All right? And then we have 1, 4 at the end. So the pattern is: And there you go. That's pattern number 2 with the blue scale over the top of it.
