Add yeast and let your waffle batter sit overnight to make feather-light, delicious waffles.
Step 1: Prepare the batter Mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Then stir in the milk, eggs, and oil and beat the mixture with an electric mixer until everything is well combined. Loosely cover the bowl and put it in the refrigerator overnight.
TIP: Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract for vanilla waffles.
Step 2: Bake waffles Preheat and lightly grease your waffle iron in the morning. Stir the batter and pour 3/4 cup onto the waffle iron grid. Then close the lid and bake the waffles according to the waffle maker's directions.
Step 3: Remove and serve Lift the waffles out of the waffle iron when they're done. Then repeat with the rest of the batter. Serve the waffles warm with butter and syrup.
Step 4: Make cornmeal waffles Make cornmeal waffles by following the same recipe, but reduce the flour to 1 1/2 cups and add 3/4 cup cornmeal. The yeast in your waffle batter will make for light and fluffy waffles for a delicious breakfast.
