How to Lose Weight with the Water Diet

Hello, my name is Carolyn Dean, drcarolyndean.com. I'm a medical doctor and a naturopathic doctor and I live in beautiful Maui. I've finished my 22nd health book, I have a free newsletter and I also have an online wellness program that you can join. And today in this series I'll be talking about dieting. The water diet, as a weight loss program, forget it, it's crazy. Now the two aspects of the water diet are, that if you drink cold water either between, with or after meals, that the coldness stimulates the body to warm it up, using calories. It is crazy. I mean these extra calories that you burn off, from increasing temperature of your water, it's just too bizarre. When you drink water with a meal, especially cold water, especially iced water, you diminish the hydrochloric acid in your stomach and your food does not get properly digested. And completely digested food will go through the intestine, and it will become the food of yeast and anaerobic bacteria that then will create a lot of byproducts that can cause gas and bloating in the intestines, and that can lead to a lot of problems. Those toxic byproducts can be absorbed through the gastro-intestinal tract lining and cause allergy reactions throughout the body. It's a condition called leaky gut, which is common in people who have yeast overgrowth to start with. To go on a water flush diet as a means to losing weight is actually dangerous because you lose a lot of nutrients by doing so. Water definitely is necessary, and I think that the only good thing about the water diet is making people realize that they need to drink more water. My water advice is for you to drink half your body weight and ounces of water every day, and you should also drink the water between meals, not before, during or after meals.
